Scriptures to Pray for Propagation of the Gospel

These are prayers taken directly from the Apostles as they propagated the Gospel across the nations. Now, more than ever before, it is imperative that we pray for the spread and prosperity of the Gospel of Christ on the earth. I pray that this stirs you up.

I love praying scriptures. First, because I never run out of what to pray. Several verses, even those that don’t look like it, can be prayed in the Bible. It’s always refreshing. But most importantly, I love it because when I pray scriptures, I know I am praying in line with the will of God, so I am not praying amiss. Previously, I shared a few scriptures you can pray for spiritual growth. In this post, I share scriptures we should all be praying for the spread and advancement of the Gospel of Christ around the world, especially in these last days. These are prayers taken directly from the Apostles as they propagated the Gospel across the nations. Now, more than ever before, it is imperative that we pray for the spread and prosperity of the Gospel of Christ on the earth. I pray that this stirs you up.

1. 2 Timothy 1:7-8

Dear Father, you have not given me the spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but You have given me a spirit of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. Therefore, I will not blush or be ashamed to testify to and for our Lord. By your grace, I take my share of the suffering to which the preaching of the Gospel may expose me, and with your help, I will preach the Gospel in the power of God. Amen.

2. Colossians 4:3-4

Dear Lord, I pray that you open a door to me and other saints in our various locations for the Word (the Gospel), that we may proclaim the mystery concerning Christ (the Messiah); that we may proclaim it fully and make it clear [speak boldly and unfold that mystery], as is our duty, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

3. Ephesians 6:18-20

Dear LORD, I pray constantly (and even right now) with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty, watching with strong purpose and perseverance and interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people); that [freedom of] utterance may be given to us, that we may open our mouths to proclaim boldly the mystery of the good news (the Gospel), that we may declare it boldly and courageously, as we ought to do, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

4. 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2

Heavenly Father, I pray that the Word of the Lord may speed on (spread rapidly and run its course) and be glorified (extolled) and triumph, and that I and every other preacher of the Gospel may be delivered from perverse (improper, unrighteous) and wicked (actively malicious) men. I pray that you protect everyone who is being persecuted for their faith, but even more, I pray that in the face of persecution, the Word of Christ gains strength and delivers the lost from the bondage of sin, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

5. Acts 4:24-31

O Sovereign Lord, You are He Who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything that is in them, who by the mouth of David, Your servant, said through the Holy Spirit, “Why did the heathen (Gentiles) become wanton and insolent and rage, and the people imagine and study and plan vain (fruitless) things [that will not succeed]?” The kings of the earth took their stand in array [for attack] and the rulers were assembled and combined together against the Lord and against His Anointed (Christ, the Messiah), not knowing that they were carrying out all that Your hand and Your will and purpose had predestined (predetermined) should occur. Now, I pray, Dear LORD, that you grant unto me and all believers everywhere [full freedom] to declare Your message fearlessly, while You stretch out Your hand to cure and to perform signs and wonders through the authority and by the power of the name of Your holy Child, Jesus. Amen.
